White Cereal

Ellie had her first solid food (funny to call it that since it was nearly as runny as water) two days ago! This morning when we headed downstairs for breakfast, Gracie told me she wanted "white cereal like Ellie." I don't know if "rice cereal" sounds like "white cereal" to her or if she was actually referring to the color of Ellie's cereal. This was one time though that she wanted something like but not exactly the same as Ellie since Gracie's version of white cereal happened to be frosted cheerios!

Potty Party

We had an all-day potty party for Gracie on Saturday. It was a ton of fun, a lot of work, and a total success! I spent the last month reading about potty training and gathering all the necessary supplies for our princess-themed potty party. Gracie spent the morning training her new doll Emma to go on the big girl potty. Gracie was a great little teacher! After Emma had a few accidents (I will never look at chocolate frosting the same), she was finally a big girl who knew how to go on the potty, so Gracie made her a special picture to celebrate.

Then Gracie spent the afternoon mastering her own big girl potty skills, with a grand finale celebration that included giving her diapers to Baby Xander followed by some special princess presents. Gracie loves wearing her big girl panties and was so excited to tell Grandma, Brian and Becka all about them when they called to congratulate her on becoming a big girl. We are so proud of our big girl and how great she is doing at going on the potty!

Fab Five

Our little Ellie bean is five months old! It's crazy how quickly five months can go. Ellie is so happy all the time, and she has the biggest, brightest smile. She is a little stingy with it for people she doesn't see every day, but it is worth the effort if you can coax one out of her! We can't imagine our family without her!!

Happy Birthday Babe

Since Grace calls Scott "babe" about as much as I do, I figured that was an appropriate title for this post. Scott turned one year older on January 25th, so we celebrated with bowling on Friday night and dinner on Saturday. With little ones, it makes it much more enjoyable to spread out the fun!
We went bowling with the Mecham family. We love spending time with Rick, Jen, Parker (who Grace says she is going to marry) and Xander. It's great because their boys are close in age to our girls, so the kids can hang out and the parents can relate.

Since Scott's actual birthday was on Sunday, we made him wait to open his gifts until that afternoon. And after his birthday dinner of hot dog boats, he blew out the candles on his birthday coconut cream pie (he's not a huge fan of cake). It was a fun weekend for all of us. Thanks for having a birthday babe!
