Daddy Daughter Ball 2010

Some of the things we heard Gracie say Friday:

  • Why is the Daddy Daughter Ball tomorrow? I want it to be today.

  • Tomorrow, I will eat breakfast, then eat lunch, then take a nap, then put my dress on and get ready for the Daddy Daughter Ball.

  • I am going to be too excited about the Daddy Daughter Ball to sleep tonight.

Saturday was the Daddy Daughter Ball at Gracie's school. On Friday night, she was indeed so excited at bedtime that it took her a long time to fall asleep. While I was laying by her, she couldn't stop asking questions: How will I dance with Daddy because he is so tall? Will Halli be there? Can I dance with Chase (apparently a new crush at school; she was disappointed when I explained he would not be there because he is not a daughter)? What else will we do besides dance?

For two hours, Gracie was her daddy's little princess. She danced with her daddy, danced with her friends, took pictures in a princess carriage, ate cupcakes with pink frosting and glass slippers made of chocolate, made a pink jewelry box pink with jewels on it, and made lots of memories.

Pigtails

I've said before that Ellie is not very cooperative when it comes to pictures, but I had to document her first pigtails (with my phone, which explains the poor picture quality). And yes, this is Ellie...

She looks just a little like her sister...

Ellie's Ears

In an earlier post, I mentioned Ellie's non-stop ear infections that started at Halloween and continued until just after Christmas. That is when her doctor suggested it might be time for tubes. After meeting with a wonderful otolaryngologist, we decided tubes was probably the best idea. So on January 7, Ellie was our little trooper and got tubes put in her ears. There is a good chance it was more stressful on me than it was on her since she didn't really understand what was happening, but she was a brave little thing and the procedure went great.

I never would have imagined both my girls would undergo procedures so early in their little lives that would require general anesthesia, but hopefully these adventures will be the first and the last for both of them for a really L-O-N-G time!
