Daddy Not Working

After Scott worked over 100 hours last week, we were getting ready to go to Bridal Veil Falls when Gracie excitedly realized: "Daddy not working; go do fun things with Daddy!" We are all really looking forward to this coming weekend when Scott will have some time off and we can do some more "fun things with Daddy." Hope everyone has a very happy Independence Day! We're looking forward to all the 4th of July blog updates.

A Day at the Zoo

Gracie and I went to the zoo last week and had a great time with the cousins! I'm not sure whether she enjoyed seeing the animals or her cousins more. A big thanks to Mandy and Melinda for running after Grace and for taking her to see the stinky parts that her pregnant mommy wasn't excited to experience!

Our California Adventure

Over Memorial Day weekend, we took a trip to California. We managed two days at Disneyland, a Day at Sea World and two outings to the beach. Scott and I went to Disneyland with my family while we were dating and it was a lot of fun, but nothing could compare to going with our own little girl. Disneyland really was the happiest place on earth for Grace those few days. And seeing how much fun she had made it the happiest place on earth for her parents too. We were already planning our next Disney trip on the drive home, during which Grace would call out from the back seat every once in a while: "No go home! Disneyland again!"

Gracie: Our Terrific Two-Year-Old

It has been three months since Gracie turned two and I still haven't sent an email with her 2-year pictures, so I decided maybe a family blog is the way to go. So here it is and here are some of my favorites of our terrific two-year-old!

Snapshots Archive

Gracie: Mom, I'm not hungry anymore, but would you get me something to eat ... like a cookie?

From Gracie to you:
Good tidings we bring, to you and your kids.
We wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Gracie, looking at the Nativity: "I want to hold the real Baby Jesus. He's cute."

"I have pretty princess shoes on so don't talk to The Princess like that." (Gracie, in response to being reprimanded.)

After spitting a bite of macaroni and cheese on the floor, Ellie pointed out where the pieces were to Rowdy so he could clean it up.

"Mom, did you give Ellie my kisses?" (Gracie asked accusingly after I smooched Ellie's cheek.)

Gracie: Mom, I don't want to get bigger.
Mom: Why not?
Gracie: Because I like being a little girl.
Then she said very sadly a few minutes later: I will miss being a little girl when I'm big like you.

Gracie's thoughts about mermaids while watching Ariel's Beginning:
How do they go poop and pee?
Why don't they put shirts on?

"These aren't kid songs, Mom." (Gracie interrupting me while singing Away in a Manger at bedtime.)

"I don't have any sleep in my body." (Gracie, trying to reason her way out of taking a nap.)

Gracie: Mom, try to not be grumpy tomorrow when I do naughty things.

Gracie: Mom, the doctor said you have to stretch. Why did he say that?
Mom: Because it will help my legs get better.
Gracie: Well then let's go upstairs and stretch those legs!!

"Mom, do I rock your world?" (Gracie asked after cleaning her room all by herself.)

Gracie asked me how Heavenly Father stuck on our eyes. After doing my best to explain to her, she said: "I want to tell him thank you."

Gracie informed me the guys who make people glued her cheeks on.

Mom: Please don't step on that CD.
Gracie: Why not?
Mom: Because it could break in half and then we wouldn't be able to listen to it.
Gracie: We could just listen to half of it!

Gracie, putting on her new "running" shoes: I run half miles. Like you, Mom!

Gracie: Mom, is this special (holding up a Willow Tree figurine).
Mom: Yes.
Gracie: K, then I won't break it.

Something you don't hear every day: Mom, my Elmo book stabbed me in the boob.
