My Friends Tigger and Pooh

Instead of being excited when she got a new car seat, Gracie pouted every time we went anywhere, repeatedly said she wanted her old car seat back, and sometimes got in the car extra fast so she could try to sit in her old (now Ellie's) seat.

When she got a new bed (the one she picked out), she called it "disgusting" and said it made her "want to throw up."

The point of this is: GRACIE DOES NOT LIKE CHANGE.

So giving up her binky has not been high on our priority list. Any mention of doing so was met with SOLID resistance or tears. And those were just mentions, not real effort. We offered bribes, asked if she wanted to give it to a baby who doesn't have money, and even tried to get her to leave it for Santa so he would bring her something EXTRA awesome! It wasn't going to happen. No way, no how.

Since her dentist told us it was not a problem and that we should wait until she is ready to give it up, we haven't worried about it. Well ready or not, Gracie's brand of pacifier is no longer made, so she only has one left. The others have all died or been lost. Her one treasured bink has stayed in her room at all times and is only used when she sleeps. Or I should say slept.

The final bink has been dying a slow death. It finally met its end yesterday. Gracie knew it was coming. We talked about it off and on all day yesterday, so when bedtime came she just held it in her hand. She got extra stories and songs and fell asleep pretty quickly. There have been no tears, and she didn't want to hold what was left of the bink at naptime today. She has been so brave!

We will miss you Tigger and Pooh binkies! Farewell...
